Many competent people "self-sabotage" themselves every day by overreacting emotionally and hurting their relationships — both at work and at home and by staying stuck in habits that hurt them, such as procrastination, disorganization, avoiding conflict ... the list goes on and on.
Many professionals can respond with a level head — even if they are ready to "blow a fuse" by adapting to workplace changes — even those that are tough to swallow and by sticking with difficult challenges when solutions don't come easily. They can usually follow through on plans, turn "good intentions" into reality and meet more goals by developing the steady self-control it takes to stand up for yourself and deal with conflicts positively. They are able to break on-the-job habits that hurt you, like procrastination, disorganization, and others...

The Basso Business Building Program features a unique format where we work with business owners and professionals to provide them with a formula for success through focused planning, strategic goal setting, weekly consulting sessions and candid video updates of their progress. Brian Fagan of All Boro has been working diligently with the Basso on Business team to make changes in every aspect of his professional life in order to achieve his goals. This week Brian changing the way he prioritizes the tasks that he needs to accomplish. The first change Brian made was writing a plan for his daily goal, a plan of action for the day even if it’s just a few tasks. However, he found that his next challenge was sticking to that plan every day. He’s working hard and he’s finding that sticking to his plans and goals are slowly helping improve his productivity.

This week Brian focused on keeping his thoughts positive and upbeat in all situations that may arise as opposed to immediately seeing each situation in a negative light. Brian took the time to really focus on each challenge that came up this week and concentrate on keeping his thoughts constructive and optimistic. This allowed him to turn each situation into a positive opportunity while keeping his stress level down and remaining focused on his weekly goals without being distracted by the challenges that came up.

This week his task was to focus on implementing some of the Basso on Business team’s initial suggestions on changing his thought process in order to change the way he views his professional interactions and their outcomes. If Brian can start changing the way he thinks and views the challenges he encounters, he can begin to turn each of those challenges into new opportunities.

Paying it forward is a fairly universal concept. You do something good for someone and they in turn do something good for someone else; eventually that good energy will come back around to you. I was recently interviewed by Josephine Geraci, who has taken this concept to new heights with her radio show “Paying it Forward..."
