Like many other New Yorkers, I received Governor Cuomo’s email this week announcing the launch of the “ Jobs Express”, the new free website designed to help our fellow New Yorker’s who are currently searching for employment. It boasts over 42,000 job openings and videos on topics from resume writing to interview techniques. My interest piqued, I decided to go check it out...

The Empire State strikes back! On June 7th, Governor Cuomo announced that a record number of new TV series have scheduled to film right here in NY for the 2011 season thanks to the $420 million Film Production Credit. The eight series were lured by the 30% tax credit and are expected to create over 4,700 new jobs. Smash, Rookies, Pan Am, Person of Interest, Unforgettable, A Gifted Man, I Just Want My Pants Back and Girls are the eight new series that will join other series such Royal Pains and other successful shows returning from last year.
In addition to the 4,700 industry jobs, over 11,000 people will work as extras this year. Shows such as Royal Pains are looking for wealthy Long Islanders -- or those who can look the part – to play on the beach or swing a golf club for the filming of the USA Network show with the help of Grant Wilfley Casting...

Are you a first time homebuyer in a new construction home? NYS tax relief is on its way.
With equity in homes at the lowest it has been since WWII, New York State has brought back a temporary break in property taxes on newly constructed homes for first time home owners. At a time when it seems that banks are unwilling to lend and the youth of Long Island are leaving in record numbers for less expensive areas of the country, this reprieve will be welcome news.

Before the elections last November almost every politician in Nassau and Suffolk counties complained about the unconstitutional MTA Payroll tax. Since Election Day, hardly a peep can be heard on this critical issue. Governor Cuomo has declared no NEW taxes are pending, which means the MTA payroll tax will continue.
NYS Tax Relief Now is leading the fight to educate the public as to how and why the MTA is a failed business model and how this tax was unnecessary. We are committed to develop alternative ways to have a robust regional transportation system. Between the MTA Payroll tax, overpriced LIRR fees, and bridge and tunnel tolls Long Islanders contribute over $1 billion per year to the MTA...
